In a study published recently in the United States, “Low-cost measurement of facemask efficacy for filtering expelled droplets during speech”, researchers at Duke University found that the N95 masks, typically worn by healthcare workers in hospital settings, were the best at stopping droplets. This study mirrors many other recent studies and provides further evidence of how Australians can protect themselves during these trying times.
In the current risky Covid-19 virus environment that we are now in, it makes sense to use the best protective face-masks that are available. N95 masks are hotter to wear over long periods, but they offer better protection than standard 3-Ply masks.
Due to their advanced construction, N95 mask re-usability is an important element which reduces the cost factor on a per use basis. They can be washed and sanitised with a quick antiseptic spray.
